Until very recently, all fishing guests at Cayo Cruz were forced to stay an hour away, and commute each day to the marina where they met their guides and skiff. During part of the year the outfitter mitigated this inconvenience by placing a live-aboard boat in the area. Now, guests will have both comfort and convenience with the opening of the Hotel Marina Spa. Rooms are only 100 meters from the fishing marina. The resort has 60 rooms, a swimming pool, bar, lounge, a variety of signature restaurants, bowling area, and more. This is an all-inclusive resort, so lodgings, food and drinks are all included in your week-long package. Arrivals are generally either through the airports at Camaguey or Cayo Coco. Drive times are two hours from Camaguey and only an hour from Cayo Coco.

There are several advantages in having a resort like this so close to the fishing. The first is obvious. It is close both to the marina where anglers meet guides and skiffs, but the fishing zones are also very close. Additionally, once back at the resort anglers have space to spread out and have a little alone time. Evenings are at their disposal to decide if they would like to walk the beach, have drinks at the bar with the group, or just read a book in their room. Furthermore, resorts provide amenities for non-anglers, so Cayo Cruz is a destination where mixed groups can have fun. While some guests are fishing, others can sunbath, go snorkeling, or take organized tours back to the mainland to visit some typical Cuban towns.
