Scheduled weeks at Black Sands, Colombia

Black Sands has a great window of opportunity for fly anglers. It is usually during the months of April and May, when the sardines congregate near the shoreline, and draw in pelagic fish to gorge on them. This is when Sailfish and Yellowfin Tuna become very susceptible to the fly. Dorado are also in abundance as are Marlin. And inshore anglers have chances at Cubera Snapper, Rooster Fish, Jacks, and even Tarpon.

It should be noted that this fishery is best suited for anglers willing to do it all. When conditions are right, you will fly fish. But when they are not, you need to be willing to launch a plug on a spinning rod, or troll. This is part of what makes this destination so great is that there is always opportunity for great fishing, if you do it right.
