3 OPEN SPOTS FOR CUBA!

3 SPOTS HAVE OPENED UP! Cuba-2024

Below is a Blog post I did several months advertising trips to Cuba I am hosting in 2024. Until recently, they were all sold out. Due to events, changes in lives, etc., 1 spot opened up for each of the weeks. Let me know if you would like to join. There is almost no availability at this point for Cuba next year……….

Last month I advertised the following 3 trips I will be hosting to Cuba in 2024. The outfitter Avalon is celebrating 30 years operating there, and offered substantial discounts. With that as incentive, the calendar for the year filled very quickly.

I have considerable experience with the following trips, and chose them because of that experience and the fact that I know the potential of each fishery. Canarreos offers an amazingly diverse habitat, from one part of the islands being a world class Tarpon destination, to the other end being one of the best Permit and Bonefish areas on the planet.

Gardens of the Queen is famous in its own right, largely because of how intact the habitat is, and the fact that all important species of flats fish live here. I chose the best month of the year, the best section, and in my view the best boat for my hosted week at GOQ. We will be staying in luxury, pursuing small schools of Tarpon over white sand, and looking for Permit in incredible open ocean flats. This is the more expensive trip, and space is always sought after.

CANARREOS ARCHIPELAGO: This chain of islands stretches from Island of the Youth in the west, all the way to Cayo Largo in the east. We will make several anchorages during our fishing week, starting in the west where we will largely target resident Tarpon. During the second half of the week, our yacht will move to the east where the flats are expansive and some of the best Permit and Bonefish habitats in the Caribbean.

GARDENS OF THE QUEEN: This is the most famous of the fishing areas in Cuba, partly because it was the first. It is also famous for having all species of flats fish. More than that, however, is the fact that Gardens of the Queen is famous for its abundance of Tarpon which arrive during the migration of Spring and Summer. I have reserved around that season which is highly sought after, and seldom available.

We will be staying aboard the luxurious Avalon Fleet 2 yacht. There are 10 staterooms on the ship, each with their own private bathroom, unlimited fresh water, and air conditioning. I have also arranged for the boat to spend the week in the eastern end of the islands in what is know as Zone C. This, in my opinion, offers the best Tarpon and Permit opportunities in Gardens of the queen.

DATES:

  • May 24 - June 1, 2024 (1 Open Spot)

  • Hosted by Jon Covich of Cuba Fishing Outfitters
