JOIN ME IN COLOMBIA!

It is time to start thinking about where to go when the doldrums of mid-winter are in full force. Argentina? Sure. New Zealand? Even Better. Cuba? You know how I feel about Cuba! BUT Colombia should be high on your list. And our destination of Akuani River Lodge is uniquely able to offer the best of two very diverse fisheries.

WHY COLOMBIA?

Because the country itself is fascinating. Second only to Brazil in bio-diversity, divided by mountains into many micro-regions with distinct nature, food, and language, and with sophisticated cities like Medellin, Colombia is a fascinating country.

WHY FISH IN COLOMBIA?

Because the fishing is still being discovered, and is at a very high level compared to other countries. With incredible saltwater fishing on the Pacific Coast, Colombia also has myriad opportunities in the waters of the Orinoco Delta. Dividing Colombia and Venezuela, the tributaries flowing into this mighty river hold an abundance of Peacock Bass, some of them among the largest specimens in the world. The Orinoco itself is fascinating, with a geography unlike anything you have ever seen, native people who rely on it for just about everything, and some of the best Payara fishing anyone can find.

WHY AKUANI RIVER LODGE?

Akuani accesses the best of these two great fisheries, all done with superior coordination, service and hospitality. Our good friends from Colombia Afloat do an amazing job at all their fishing destinations. They are always thinking of their clients, are exceptionally easy to work with, and place a huge emphasis on clients receiving a superior value. Akuani River Lodge is simple but extremely comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Most importantly, the lodge has access not only to great fishing for Peacock Bass, but they also divide their week with days spent on the Orinoco River. These few days are a highlight for most guests as the fishery and geography are very unique.
